Reliance unveiled the all-new Jio Phone at its AGM 2017 that also marks its 40th anniversary. The Jio Phone has been doing the rounds in the form of leaks and rumours for some time now, and the company has finally unveiled the Jio Phone.
Now, the highlight of the device is - it is free. yes, you have to be nothing to get the device. But, here's the catch. You have to give a fully refundable deposit of Rs 1500, which the company says will be refunded after 36 months. It is for security reasons so that people don't misuse the free service.
For Jio Phone users, the company has also launched the Dhan Dhana Dhan offer that brings free voice calls, SMS and unlimited data at just Rs 153. To ensure that its data plans fit every pocket, the company has also launched sachets of Rs 24 and Rs 54. These sachets offer the same plan at rs 24 for two days and rs 54 for a week.
How to get the phone? So, Jio plans friendly trials from 15 August, while the pre-booking of the device will be on 24 August. Once you pre-book the device, probably by paying the amount, it will then be ready for delivery by September. You can pre-book via the Jio app or by visiting Jio retailer.
The other big announcements made were India is the biggest mobile data consuming nation with 120 crore GB consumed/month, surpassing the US and China. Mukesh Ambani also announced that more than 100 million customers have switched from free to paid subscription. Jio phone Cable TV at Rs 309 per month will allow connecting JioPhone with any TV, and it will let users watch video of their choice for 3-4 hours.
