Finally, the OnePlus 5 has been launched in India. The device is available in two variants - 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage - priced at Rs 32,999 and Rs 37,999, respectively. It is available exclusively on Amazon.
Design
The OnePlus 5 takes design cues from the iPhone, not literally, but you will find the design familiar. For instance, the antenna curled on the upper back side. On the right side, you will find the power button and SIM slot, while the left side comes fitted with the slider and the volume keys. The lower edge gets the headphone jack along with the USB port. Yes, unlike rumours, the device will feature a headphone jack.
It is available in Midnight black and Slate grey options.
Display
The new flagship sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, which isn't bad, but honestly, we expected an improved display. However, the company says that the device comes with software enhancements for the display.
Processor and OS
It is powered by the latest and most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. It runs Android Nougat 7.1.1 based Oxygen OS. In the limited time we spent, it was easy to navigate and we easily got a hang of it.
RAM and storage
You get two RAM options - 6GB and 8GB. On the storage front, you will get 64GB and 128GB options. Though there is no option to expand the storage, that seems like plenty of onboard storage to store your photos, videos and so on.
Camera
This is the highlight of the device - dual camera setup on the back. It comes with two sensors on the back - 16MP and 20MP. On the front, you will find a 16MP snapper. The company has added a portrait mode that focuses on the subject and fades the background. In the limited time we spent with the device, we managed to take a few indoor shots and they looked quite fine.
Battery
The device is powered by a 3300mAh battery, which should last about a day. However, we will be able to confirm this only once we conduct a battery test.
