Along with the coveted iPhone X, Apple has launched the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Both are almost similar to the iPhone 7 models that we saw last year.
Dipped in Silver, Space grey and Gold, the new models have been enhanced with a better display, speaker and yes, they do get the glass covering. Powered by the A11 Bionic chipset, Apple claims that the GPU has been improved by 30 percent compared to last year. Both models get 3D Touch and Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating.
On the display front, you get a 4.7-inch display with 1334x750 pixel resolution at 326 ppi for the iPhone 8 and 5.5-inch display 1920x1080-pixel resolution at 401 ppi for the iPhone 8 Plus. The device is water and dust resistant rated IP67 under IEC standard 60529, and comes with stereo speakers.
One of the big highlights of the devices is the support for Qi wireless charging. Both devices get a camera upgrade with better detailed photos even as it features the same 12MP and the Plus model gets the 12MP dual rear setup. It supports Optical image stabilization.
The device comes equipped with a 7MP FaceTime HD camera with support for 1080p HD video recording. And, the fingerprint sensor built into the Home button. Users can pay with your iPhone using Touch ID in stores, within apps, and on the web
In India, the iPhone 8 will be priced at Rs 64,000 for the 64GB model, while the 256GB model will cost Rs 77,000. The iPhone 8 Plus is priced at Rs 73,000 for the 64GB model, and the 256GB model is priced at Rs 86,000. You can expect them to reach the Indian market just ahead of the Diwali season on September 29. In the US, the 64GB model is priced at $699 (approx. Rs 44,700) and 256GB at $849 (approx. Rs 54300). The iPhone 8 Plus will be priced at $799 (approx. Rs 51,100) and $949 (approx. Rs 60,700), respectively.
