Facebook Messenger to add gender diverse emojis

Synopsis

A big update on Facebook Messenger is expected today as the social media giant is expected to introduce a set of new emojis with a primary focus on skin tone and gender diversities.

According to a Verge report, the new addition will include support for the skin tone selection and gender. The emojis will now have women on the chart in more diversified roles.

Facebook said in an interview that it's the first platform to include "a female police officer, runner, pedestrian, surfer, and swimmer," among others to come.

The emoji chart for the Android and iOS users is currently different. Sometimes, the emojis sent from a device to the other one doesn’t appear as same, which can lead to many misunderstandings.  However, Facebook is reportedly working towards solving this issue too. With the new upgrade, the emoji chart would appear same across all the smartphones.
