All you need to know about Tata's next compact sedan Tigor

Synopsis

Tigor looks like a successor of Indigo eCS, which was the first compact sedan of India. Additional features will include reverse camera, larger alloy wheels, armrest, climate control and a high-tech Harman Kardon audio system.

Tata Motors has changed the name of Tiago-like compact sedan Kite 5 to Tigor and is expected to launch in India in April 2017. The Indian car manufacturer had already showcased the car at the Auto Expo 2016 in New Delhi.

The car also looks like a successor of Indigo eCS, which was the first compact sedan of India. Tata has been testing Kite 5 since 2014. However, Tigor will be above Tiago and below Zest.

Tigor will be sporting a chrome strip that will extend between its tail lights. An LED stop lamp will also add to its feature and it will be placed at the top of the rear windscreen. Tigor’s dashboard will be similar to Tiago therefore one cannot expect much change in that section of the car.

Additional features will include reverse camera, larger alloy wheels, armrest, climate control and a high-tech Harman Kardon audio system.

Tigor’s mechanical features will not be much different from Tiago as well. It will sport 1.2 Revotron petrol with 85 hp and 1.05 Revotorq diesel for 70 hp. Initially Tigor will be launched with a five-speed manual gearbox. However, the automatic edition will be launched as well but initially the AMT feature will be added to Tiago first.

Now we come to the most important part – the price. Tata Tigor is likely to be priced between ₹ 4 – 6.5 lakh making it one of the best in its class and section.
