Tamil Nadu Governor Vidyasagar Rao had ordered for the installation of the Thiruvalluvar statue in Raj Bhavan. Accordingly, the Thiruvalluvar Statue, which is 4 feet tall and 4½ feet wide, was installed at the premises. The opening ceremony was held last evening.
The Governor-C. Vidyasagar Rao-facilitated this function and unveiled the statue.
“I am very happy to unveil the statue of Thiruvalluvar, a great saint, philosopher of the world. In Ancient times there were no papers or printing machines. But the Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas were stored and protected in the minds of our ancestors.
India, unlike other countries, has bestowed this world with many sacred and precious scriptures. Thirukkural is a gift to the world by the classical language Tamil. It is equally important as a scripture as it holds the truth of life in the past, present and future,” said the Governor.
