Sri Lankan Navy has arrested eight fishermen for allegedly fishing in Sri Lanka’s waters. They hail from Jagadapattinam and Kottipattinam in Pudukottai district in Tamil Nadu. It was reported that they were fishing near Neduntheevu, an island in the Palk Straight to the north of Sri Lanka. 

They were later taken to the Kankesanthurai port camp in Jaffna, Sri Lanka for investigation. Two boats belonging to the fishermen were seized.

Meanwhile, in another incident, it is reported that a Sri Lankan navy ship deliberately hit a Tamil fishing boat and capsized it. The four fishermen who were stranded in the ocean were later rescued.
