Schools and colleges must have a subject on law, says Minister C Ve Shanmugam

JG Prince emphasized the need for legal education in schools and colleges C Ve Shanmugam has acknowledged his suggestion with appreciation He said that legal education would be implemented after discussing the possibilities with the education minister

C. Ve. Shanmugam, the Minister of Law, Courts and Prisons, has said that he would insist the department of education to add a syllabus on basic legal rights. 

During a debate on demand for grants for Law and Justice Department, Congress member J. G. Prince said, “There is a lack of awareness regarding the basic legal rights. I suggest the minister to introduce legal education in schools and colleges.”

In reply to that C. Ve. Shanmugam said, “It is a good suggestion. I will discuss the same with the education minister. Steps will be taken to implement the legal education in schools and colleges.”
