Racer Ashwin Sundar, wife burnt to death after BMW caught fire

Synopsis

Racer Ashwin Sundar and his wife Nivedhitha died in a car crash in Santhome High Road of Chennai. The passerby informed the Chennai city police control room, and officials from Adyar traffic investigation wing arrived at the spot.

 

Chennai-based professional car racer Ashwin  Sundar along with his wife, Nivedhitha died after their BMW rammed another roadside car and caught fire at the Santhome High Road of Chennai in the wee hours of March 18.

 

According to reports, the police said that the couple got trapped inside the car after the accident and it caught fire and both were charred to death. Sundar was behind the wheels and his wife, a doctor by profession, were the only two in the car. 

 

The passerby informed the Chennai city police control room, and officials from Adyar traffic investigation wing arrived at the spot of the accident and broke opened the car to recover the bodies. Fire and rescue services struggled for about half-an-hour to stop the fire. The charred bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

 

At the initial investigation, the police failed to recognise the couple and only after checking the vehicle’s registration number determined the identity of the racer and his wife, reported the Times of India.
