“The Chief Minister should not be silent and should clarify who is the general secretary of the party. We will not tolerate this silence anymore”, demanded the supporters of Dinakaran. This has created a great furor within the AIADMK party.
AIADMK has split into two teams under the influence of E.Palaniswami and TTV Dinakaran respectively. A series of disagreements is seen prevailing among the two factions. During an interview, the Deputy Speaker Thambidurai said, “Only after the approval of Sasikala and the Chief Minister, it was decided to render our support to the BJP’s presidential candidate”
Dispute:
Following this, MPs Arunmozhidevan, Hari and MLA Murugumaran have strongly condemned the deputy speaker for mentioning Sasikala’s name. They questioned the deputy speaker on bringing up her name for which he has refused to give a reply.
This has triggered the anger of TTV Dinakaran’s supporters.
Arakkonam MP Hari, in his interview with the reporters, said, “With the blessings of Jayalalithaa and under the leadership of the Chief Minister, AIADMK has been functioning great. It is a rule that the members of AIADMK should elect the General Secretary. Since Sasikala has been imprisoned, the senior members of the party get to serve as a General Secretary but Dinakaran has been demanding the right to work for the same, which is totally unacceptable. “
“Dinakaran should be matured enough to direct the MLAs to communicate with the CM and not with him. When the election conducted for the General Secretary is not valid by itself, how could Dinakaran believe that he is the deputy secretary?", He further added.
His statement has earned a strong criticism. MLAs such as Thanga Selvan and Vetrivel have reacted to it.
Thanga Selvan said, "I don’t understand why are the MLAs and MPs giving interviews in opposition to Sasikala’s family. It was already decided that Sasikala would be the General Secretary and Dinakaran, the Deputy Secretary. Members have already signed a petition on that and it was also sent to the election commission. Hence, in order to end all such interviews against Sasikala, the Chief Minister should speak up."
Vetrivel said, "Hari is not a loyal person. He was against Jayalaithaa and had once torn her photo. I could easily shame them by revealing some truth. AIADMK would not have existed if not for Sasikala’s efforts. It is wrong to be ungrateful. We have been repeatedly telling that the Chief Minister would work for the regime and Sasikala for the party’s welfare. It is unjust to remain silent just like the former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao. His silence was the reason for the defeat of congress. The Chief Minister should not be like him and he should know how to eliminate the weed just before it ruins everything. He should not test our patience. We have our own limits and we don’t want to mention certain things which would easily shame them.”
These contradicting statements from the members of the same party, have raised many doubts. Only when the Chief Minister speaks up, this issue would get solved.
