Murders drastically reduced during AIADMK rule

Synopsis

Chief Minister E Palaniswami says that Tamil Nadu has become a peace park as the law and order is being preserved. Durai Murugan blames the AIADMK government for not granting promotion for the individuals who have cleared IPS examination. He questions the AIADMK government on the failed investigations in the train robbery and BJP member Sasikumar’s murder.

In a debate on the law and order situation in the assembly, DMK leader Durai Murugan and Palaniswami had a heated discussion.

DMK Durai Murugan: The function for honouring the policemen with service awards and medals is not yet conducted. Promotions for the individuals who have cleared IPS examination are not yet granted. 20,000 vacant police posts are not filled in. Law and order is not preserved. Just like how they show a robbery scene in cinema, a robbery crime has taken place in a train in Chennai that made its way from Salem. Till date the robbers are not found and arrested.  The murderers of the BJP member Sasikumar is not yet found. Robberies and murders are happening everywhere. Police are showing careless attitudes.

Chief Minister: Even in the DMK regime many robberies and murders have taken place. A government’s ability is determined by how those issues are solved. By blaming, don’t try to portray your DMK regime as a perfect government. I have the statistics report, according to that the law and order has been well preserved and as a result Tamil Nadu has become a peace park.

Durai Murugan: Statistics reports can be changed according to the instructions of the ruling party.

Chief Minister: Nothing as such can happen. These reports are accurate and true. I would like to state an example, In DMK regime, 1,274 murders have taken place in 2006. Later it increased to 1,715 in 2011. The count has lessened during the AIADMK regime. The count of murders is 1,513 according to the report in 2016.
