Kamal Haasan has rekindled his feud with AIADMK by asking for the resignation of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

On Independence Day, August 15, in a series of tweets, he invited people who were brave enough to take a vow for a new freedom struggle, apparently against corruption.

Without naming anyone, he hinted that Palaniswami should resign over the state of affairs in Tamil Nadu.

In his first tweet, Haasan said: “If one State’s CM should resign for a mishap & corruption under his govt. How come no party calls for resignation in TN. Enough crimes done.”

In a subsequent tweet, he stated, “My aim is a better Tamilnadu. Who dares to strengthen my voice? DMK, AIADMK & parties R tools to help. If those tools R blunt find others.”

In a third tweet, which was in Tamil, he said, “Unless we liberate ourselves from corruption, we are all slaves. Let those persons who have the guts to pledge themselves to the new freedom struggle come forward. Let us win.”

Responding swiftly to Haasan’s tweets, Dairy Development Minister KT Rajenthra Bhalaji and A Anwhar Raajhaa, a Member of Parliament of the AIADMK (Amma), said the actor was issuing ‘sweeping statements’, reported the Hindu.

Kamal was allegedly referring to the demands by the Congress for the resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the death of more than 60 children in a government-run hospital in Gorakhpur.

The national award winning actor-director has been critical of the AIADMK of late, alleging corruption in its government, drawing the ire of ministers.

Haasan had recently shared a dais with opposition leader and DMK Working President M K Stalin at a party-organised function in Chennai.
