Tamil Nadu: Health minister announces radio service for health awareness and guidelines during emergencies

Synopsis

A radio service will soon be launched in order to spread awareness to the public during emergencies and disasters In case of an outbreak of deadly diseases, the precautionary guidelines will be taught through the radio In addition to this new initiative the 108 ambulance drivers will be provided with smart phones with an app

During the debate on grant demands for the health sector in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Health Minister Vijayabaskar said, “A radio service will soon be launched in order to spread awareness to the public during emergencies and disasters.  In case of an outbreak of a deadly disease, precautionary guidelines will be broadcasted through the radio.”

He further said, “The precautionary steps that have to be followed during the natural disasters will also be instructed through the radio. In addition to this new initiative, 108 ambulance drivers will be provided with smartphones with an app. For the 108 ambulance service, 50 new vans will be given.”
