The ruling AIADMK on Wednesday evening announced its support to BJP’s presidential candidate-Ram Nath Kovind.
At an Iftar hosted by the AIADMK faction, E. Palaniswamy, the Chief Minister, said that his party has decided to extend its support to the Prime Minister. A “consultation” meeting was held at the AIADMK headquarters. The meeting was presided by 50 Ministers and MLAs, along with the Chief Minister, who discussed on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call on presidential election.
Following which, the Chief Minister met the reporters and said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi called us over phone and sought the party’s support for his candidate Mr. Kovind, at the end of this consultation meeting, we have decided unanimously to support BJP during this presidential election.“
It was said that about 20 of TTV Dinakaran supporters purposely avoided both the iftar and the party meeting.
