Corruption is there in every industry: Kamal Haasan

Synopsis

Actor Kamal Haasan comes to his defence and says that he is unfazed by all the controversies. He says that it is his duty as an actor to bring entertainment to people. He questions how a reality show can be vulgar when his kissing scenes in cinema were not?

Big Boss, hosted by Kamal Haasan, is facing strong opposition from all sides. A case is filed in the Court against this programme.

In an interview in Alwarpet, Kamal said, “I believe in our justice system. It will protect me. If I am arrested, I will not resist but face it legally. I don’t have to answer to the persons who are insisting on my arrest. I have done kissing scenes in the films. If they claim that Big Boss is ruining the culture, why did not they take action against me in the past for such scenes? So do they mean that Big Boss would ruin culture more than the portrayal of kissing scenes in films? As many do not know Hindi they might not have understood the concept.  Big Boss Hindi is also going on air. I have the duty to give such feast to the people who believe in me. They celebrated me during Dasavathaaram, but now they are opposing me.”

Speaking to the Times of India, he said, "What is so objectionable about the content in Bigg Boss that is against Tamil culture." He also said that such remarks come from people who have a lot of time in their hand.

He further added, “The law has done its duty in the case of actress Bhavana’s harassment. I'm on the victim's side. GST rate was not changed as we requested but yet it has been reduced to some extent. I whole-heartedly appreciate it. It is saddening to know that soft drink is given more respect than cinema. Corruption is prevailing in every industry. It was I who first said that the system is corrupt. Rajini has made the same comment and I do not oppose it. We all have a participation in the politics. Big Boss show is as necessary as cricket.”

On the question of targeting the state song 'Tamil Thai Vaazhtu', Haasan said that it was just an attempt by non-Tamil speakers to learn the language and there was no intention of being disrespectful to it. Haasan said, "How many of us would have uttered the words in the national anthem incorrectly? Did we ever consider that as an act of disrepute to the national anthem?" He further added, "I am a very hard target. They are throwing darts at me but it won't work. If these allegations had any rationale to it, I would have apologised."

Incidentally, the outfit  Hindu Makkal Katchi that targeted Haasan has a previous history of aiming at him. He was targeted in March for an alleged derogatory remark on the Mahabharata.
