Chennai: Legislators from the state cast a quick vote for Presidential elections

Synopsis

Voting for the presidential election in Tamil Nadu ended by noon DMK president M Karunanidhi was the only absentee

Voting for the presidential election in Tamil Nadu ended as quickly as 12 in the noon. 

Earlier it was said that the voting would begin at 10 am and would continue till 5 pm but it was over in just about two hours. 

It was then reported that the 232 legislators of Tamil Nadu had cast their votes very quickly.

Excluding them, Kerala MLA Abdulla and Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, who have got special permission from Election Commission have also cast their votes. 

DMK president M Karunanidhi was the only absentee. 

RK Nagar constituency is vacant due to the demise of former CM Jayalalithaa.

The number of votes would be verified and taken to Delhi by air at 9.10 pm this evening, July 17, 2017. The ballot boxes from Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry will be taken together to the Capital.
