Watch: Kohli fights with Stokes in 3rd Test vs England

Synopsis

The incident happened during the first innings of Mohali Test on Saturday. Kohli and Stokes exchanged heated words after the later was dismissed. England won the toss and elected to bat in the third Test.

The incident happened after Stokes was dismissed off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling in the first innings and was walking back in disappointment.

Stokes was stumped by Parthiv Patel, who made his Test return after a long gap of eight years, in the 44th over. The English cricketer was in rhythm who had smashed five boundaries before his knock was ended. He eventually scored 29 off 59 balls.

The argument was not heard on the mic but it was clear that it was not just a normal conversation as the on-field umpire Marais Erasmus had to intervene there.

England won the toss and elected to bat first before the Indian bowling attack took charge. At stumps of Day one, the visitors were 268 for 8 in 90 overs.

 

Jonny Bairstow top-scored for them with 89 runs off 177 balls, while the eight wickets were shared between Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Jayant Yadav, Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. The spinners has a total of three scalps, the other five belonged to the Indian pacers.
