Kohli - Kumble partnership is only becoming deadlier

Synopsis

Kohli as a Test captain has remained unbeaten in the last nine matches he has played at home. On one hand, MS Dhoni never liked to tinker with his team combination and on the other, Kohli has not played with the same playing 11 in his first 20 Tests as captain.

Virat Kohli has been marching a ruthless troop ever since he has donned the captain’s hat of the Indian Test team. The journey to the no. 1 spot of the Test rankings has simply been nothing less than a merciless adventure. Kohli himself has been at the top of his game and so have been the players in the side. And all these are coming out with a lot more conviction under the regime of none other than the coach – Anil Kumble.

This Kohli - Kumble partnership is turning out to be the one that India needed. Ever since India toured West Indies, they have looked forward only to better their game in every single match they have played.

Watch India's winning moment and an exuberant Virat Kohli at the end of the third Test match in Mohali:

A 1-0 win against the West Indies in the Caribbean Islands followed by a 3-0 thrashing of New Zealand and now India have gained an unassailable 2-0 lead against England at home. It seems both the coach and the skipper are hungry for more victories.

This series was being termed as the ‘Revenge Series’ for Kohli and with consummate ease, the 28-year-old Indian captain, is marching towards that sweet taste.

Kohli as a Test captain has remained unbeaten in the last nine matches he has played at home. Out of which he has won seven and drawn two. India have remained unbeaten in their last 15 Test matches under him (11 wins, 4 draws). They have also won the last four Test series against Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies and New Zealand. And now Kohli and co. are on the verge of extending their unbeaten streak or may be add another series win to that existing list.

On one hand, MS Dhoni never liked to tinker with his team combination and on the other, Kohli has not played with the same playing 11 in his first 20 Tests as captain. Only one player who has remained constant in his side was Ajinkya Rahane.

But the former India captain Sourav Ganguly has come out and said that Kohli and Kumble have not been tested yet. But so far, even if Kohli fails to star, there has always been a fire-fighting man to tilt the 50-50 scenarios in India’s favour. We are looking forward to having more of such victories from this fiery Indian cricket team under the regime of Kohli and Kumble.
