US Open 2021: Is Novak Djokovic under pressure to win his record 21st Grand Slam title?

Synopsis

Novak Djokovic would be bidding to win his record 21st Grand Slam title at the 2021 US Open. However, is he under pressure, or is he treating it as a motivation to win the same?

Reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic of Serbia would participate in the US Open 2021, as he eyes history. While winning it would make him the record 21-time Grand Slam champion among males in the Open Era, he would also complete the Calendar Slam.

Ahead of the same, he is preparing to the fullest, as he looks to brush aside the disappointment from the last year when he was handed a default for inadvertently hitting the linesman. Meanwhile, while he could be under possible pressure for the history-making moment, he has revealed that instead, he is utilising it as a source of motivation.

During a press conference, he told ATP that he was aware of the opportunity and his decent historical performances in New York. He termed it as the most entertaining tennis court, especially with the fans coming back now. He affirmed that he is highly motivated, but he would need to take it one ball at a time to complete the Calendar Slam.
