
In what comes as a massive moment for India, wrestler Ravi Kumar secured another medal for the nation at the Tokyo Olympics. He won his 57kg semis-final clash against Nurislam Sanayev of Russia on Wednesday.
Ravi has scripted history as he has become only the second Indian wrestler after Sushil Kumar to reach the final. While the latter had won silver at the 2012 London Olympics, Ravi too is assured of a silver medal.

As for the fight, Ravi took a 2-1 lead in the opening period, while the pressure kept piling on Sanayev thereon. However, the latter made a good comeback in the following round and overtook the lead, with the former being under pressure now.
However, the Indian staged a comeback in the closing stages and won the clash 7-9 via fall. Earlier, in the quarters, he had beaten Georgi Valntinov Vangelov of Georgia by 14-1 by superiority, while previously in the pre-quarters, he had outsmarted Oscar Tigreros of Colombia 13-2 in superiority. He would now take part in the final on Thursday.
