Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu loses semis clash to Tai Tzu Ying, to battle for bronze medal

Synopsis

India's hope for a gold or silver in badminton faded after top player PV Sindhu lost her semis clash to Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying on Saturday, while she would now battle for bronze.

In what comes as another setback for India, top female badminton star PV Sindhu lost her semi-final clash to Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying on Saturday. While her hopes of winning a gold or silver are dashed, she still has a chance to win the bronze.

Ying was aggressive right from the start, as she smashed it hard at Sindhu, with the latter struggling to counter it back. While the Indian lost in straight sets (18-21, 12-21), it was also her 14th loss against her in 19 encounters, losing to her in the previous three battles.
