Tokyo Olympics: Boxer Pooja Rani knocked out by Li Qian in quarterfinal

It was yet another disappointment in terms of Indian boxing at the Tokyo Olympics, as middleweight boxer Pooja Rani lost her quarterfinal bout to Li Qian of China.

There seemed to be no respite for the Indian boxers at the Tokyo Olympics. In the women's middleweight bout, Pooja Rani lost hers to China's Li Qian on Saturday.

The bronze medallist of the 2016 Rio Olympics was off to a great start against the Indian, winning the opening round, with all the five judges awarding her ten against the Indian's nine. In the next round, Qian continued with the same intensity, hardly allowing Rani to land her punches.

At the same time, the Chinese ducked it all pretty good, as she won the round comfortably 5-0. The Indian needed a miracle in the final game but could not match up to her opponent, losing it by a similar scoreline.

Meanwhile, Lovlina Borgohain is the only remaining Indian boxer at the Games. She has been assured of a bronze medal, while she would be taking on Turkey's Busenaz Sürmeneli in the semis.
