Olympics reports that Bach applauded the organisers for having done a commendable job so far. He also termed Tokyo as the best-ever prepared city for the Games. At the same time, he said that it was even remarkable, considering that all the arrangements had been made perfectly despite the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

He met Organising Committee president Hashimoto Seiko before taking the office tour, while he also met some senior executives and CEO Muto Toshiro. Nevertheless, he reminded that there would still be a lot of work left to do, as it would only be over once all the athletes have left the city. He urged them to deliver their best, now that the stage is nearly set.

Bach assured the committee that the ultimate target for the organisers would be to host a safe and secure Games. He also put his faith in the Japanese people, along with the strict testing regime and the vaccination drive, as he stood in solidarity with them.
