Video: Rohit Sharma had the most hilarious run-out, and Twitter cannot keep its cool

Synopsis

India beat Sri Lanka in the first of a five-match ODI series against Rohit Dhawan had a bizarre run-out where his bat was stuck just before crossing the crease Twitter quickly started trolling India's vice captain for the goofy run-out

India’s win against Sri Lanka in the first ODI in Dambulla was probably one of the smoothest victories for the Men in Blue.

Sri Lanka went from 139 for one to being all-out at 216. It was smooth sailing for the Indian batsmen where Shikhar Dhawan scored a brilliant 132 in just 90 balls. He brought up his 11th ODI hundred off only 71 balls and it was the second quickest hundred against Sri Lanka by an Indian batsman after Virender Sehwag's 66-ball effort at Rajkot in 2009.

Ably assisting him on the field was skipper Virat Kohli who scored 82 off 70 balls.

However, what made the day memorable was the hilarious run-out of Vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit had scored four runs when he defended a ball from Lasith Malinga. Both batsmen made a dash for a quick single when Kapugedera threw the ball towards Rohit Sharma’s end.

And just when Rohit Sharma was about to make it to the bowler’s end the bat got stuck in the ground and came off. Rohit was sprinting well and seemed to have made it with his feet but the direct hit caught his heel short by inches.

The run-out looked so silly that twitterati could not stop from having fun at Rohit’s expense.  People sure are getting innovative with those memes.
