Pakistani players not allowed in Pro Kabaddi League, says government

Pakistani players have been disallowed in the Pro Kabaddi League by the government Pakistani hockey and cricket players have already been disallowed from competing or playing matches in India. There are no players in the Indian Premier League or the Indian Hockey League The last time Pakistani players were a part of the Pro Kabaddi League was back in 2014

The Pro Kabaddi auction saw several overseas players picked by the 12 teams this year. However, Pakistani players have been disallowed in the tournament.

On Monday, May 22, the Centre made it clear that Pakistani players will not be allowed to compete in Pro Kabaddi League, slated to start on June 25, unless the country stops sponsoring terrorism.

"The organisers can call them, but they can't make them play. Even if they are selected, it is the government of India which will decide whether they are allowed or not. Unless Pakistan gets rid of terrorism, it is impossible to play with Pakistan," Sports Minister Vijay Goel said to PTI.

Pakistani hockey and cricket players have already been disallowed from competing or playing matches in India. There are no players in the Indian Premier League or the Indian Hockey League.

 Many in the political circle have already objected to the India and Pakistan match on June 4 at the Champions Trophy. The recent Kulbhushan Yadav case has further complicated the already fragile diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan. The last time Pakistani players were a part of the league was back in 2014.
