
José Mourinho, who left Chelsea in a huff last year, is set to be appointed the new manager for Manchester United. The celebrated Portugese coach will take over from Louis van Gaal.
Although there was speculation that the Dutchman van Gaal would continue till the next season, reports have confirmed that he is likely to give way to Mourinho very soon.
Since his exit from Chelsea, Mourinho has turned down offers from some prominent clubs, including from Paris Saint-Germain, since he was always hopeful of receiving an offer from United.
Van Gaal's United stint lasted two seasons, during which United finishing fourth in the league, this year, and also won the FA Cup this past Saturday.
“I don’t want to talk about leaving,” van Gaal was quoted as saying by The Guardian, “I am proud that I am the first United manager after Sir Alex Ferguson to win a trophy. I have had a picture taken with Sir Alex, because that is history.”
