
Mithali Raj, the Indian women’s cricket team captain, has created a record for being the highest run scorer in the on-going World Cup. She has gone past England’s Charlotte Edwards’ record of scoring 5992 runs.
Mithali has played 183 matches to be the highest run-scorer while Edwards played 191 matches.
Indian skipper played her first ODI in 1999 against Ireland. Since then she has never looked back, and has scored five centuries and 49 half centuries.
In the Live match against Australia, Mithali Raj scored 52 out of 99 balls. She has put up a partnership of 117 for the second wicket with her partner Punam Raut.
India has scored 127 runs 33.5 overs after losing one wicket.
