MI vs RCB, IPL 2025 highlights: Krunal's 4-wicket haul guides Bengaluru to 12-run win

Hardik Pandya: It was a run-fest. The wicket was really good. I was just talking about that to myself that again we fell short with two hits, I don't have much to say. (Was 221 par or above-par?) The way the wicket was, the bowers didn't really have much place to hide. It came down to execution. You can stop the batters but I don't want to be harsh on the bowlers. It was a tough track, not many options we had. (No. 3 position) The original skeleton of our team, Naman was always batting down the order. It's just that in the last game, Ro wasn't available, so we had to push someone up and someone like him has the multi-dimensional game where he can come up as well and can play in the death as well. Once Ro was back, we knew that Naman would have to come down. Tilak was fantastic. In this sort of games, powerplay is crucial. It comes down to execution - we were not able to play those dots. Having him (Bumrah) makes any team pretty special. He came in and did his job, very happy to have him. In life, always see the positive side. Go out there and play your best cricket of life. We are all backing them.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered 12-run win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. With this win, RCB have three victories in their kitty, while MI suffered 2nd consecutive defeat of the season and first at home. 

Krunal Panday dashed Mumbai Indians' hopes of chasing down 222-run target as picked two wickets of Mitchell Santner and Deepak Chahar on two consecutive deliveries.

WICKET! Mumbai Indians under pressure as Hardik Pandya was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood in the 19th over, which was a crucial situation for MI in their 222-run chase. MI need 19 off 6 balls to win.

WICKET! Bhuvneshwar Kumar uses his fingers to grip the ball and bowls it on a short length, wide outside off stump. Tilak stretches to hit it but doesn’t connect well. The ball goes towards sweeper cover, where Salt runs in and takes a comfortable catch. MI need 28 off 12 balls to win.

Tilak Varma stepped up for Mumbai Indians when needed and acclerated their 222-run chase as he has completed his first fifty of the season in 26 balls. MI need 41 off 18 balls to win.

After Suryakumar Yadav's dismissal, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya shifted their gears and took on RCB bowlers, especially Suyash Sharma and Josh Hazlewood to the cleaners in 222-run chase. In the previous two overs, Tilak and Hardik together smashed 39 runs to slighly tilt the momentum into MI's favour. MI need 84 off 36 balls to win.

Slower one from Dayal, full and wide outside off. Suryakumar (28) backs away, tries to go over mid-off but toe-ends it. Livingstone runs back and takes a clean catch. MI need 123 off 48 balls.

DROPPED! It was a back-of-the-hand slower ball by Jitesh Sharma. and Suryakumar Yadav tried to hit it hard across the line. But he mistimed it and got a big top-edge. The ball went high up into the night sky. Jitesh Sharma called for the catch and ran toward it. At the same time, Yash Dayal was watching the ball and also moved a little to his right, getting ready to catch it. Yash got both hands to the ball, but just then, Jitesh reached him, and they collided. Because of the collision, Yash couldn’t hold on, and the catch was dropped.

WICKET! Krunal Pandya bowls a short ball that comes in straight towards middle and off stump. Will Jacks (22)  seems caught off guard and tries to pull it, but he's a bit late. The ball takes a big top-edge and flies towards long leg. Virat Kohli is there and takes an easy catch. MI need 138 off 60 balls to win.

Mumbai Indians are relying on Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav to keep their hopes alive for 222-run chase.Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandyand Naman Dhir are yet to bat. MI need to 144 off 66 balls to win.

After early wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton, Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav steadied MI's ship in 222-run chase and took the team past the 50-run mark in the 5th over. MI need 168 off 84 balls to win.

WICKET! Hazlewood bowled a delivery at a good length — not too full, not too short. It was aimed at leg stump and moved slightly away after pitching. Rickelton (17) tried to play a big shot towards the leg side, but he didn’t have enough space to swing freely. The ball stayed a bit low and struck him around the knee. MI need 184 off 96 balls to win.

Suryakumar Yadav joined Will Jacks at the crease.

WICKET! Rohit Sharma was getting into his groove until Yash Dayal ended his stay at the crease after scoring 17 off 8 balls. Yash Dayal bowls a brilliant inswinger that lands around middle stump and moves in sharply. Rohit tries to drive it but misses as the ball swings past his inside edge and hits the middle of the leg stump. MI need 196 off 108 balls to win.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru set a 222-run target for Mumbai Indians to chase. 

WICKET! Patidar (64) moved across the stumps and tried to scoop a full delivery from Trent Boult that was way outside the off-stump. He couldn’t get the room he wanted and ended up top-edging the ball. It went high in the air but not very far. Rickelton quickly turned and ran back, then dived full length to take a brilliant catch.

WICKET! He stepped far outside the off stump and took his eyes off the ball just before it reached him. Hardik bowled a short, fast delivery that was too quick for Livingstone (0). The ball hit the edge of his bat and went straight to Bumrah at short third man, who took an easy catch.

WICKET! Virat Kohli (67) moves far outside the off stump, trying to hit Hardik Pandya's ball to the leg side. But he doesn't time it well and ends up hitting a top-edge that goes to Naman Dhir at deep square leg.

WICKET! Vignesh Puthur bowls a flighted delivery that drifts in towards leg stump. Padikkal (37) steps to the leg side and tries to loft it. He's a bit early on the shot and loses grip with his bottom hand. The ball goes really high in the air, but Jacks stays calm near the boundary at long-on and takes a safe catch with a reverse cup.

FIFTY! Virat Kohli has returned to his form as he smashed a six to complete his 2nd fifty of the season. A full delivery on the leg side by Vignesh Puthur, and Kohli goes down on one knee to hit a powerful slog sweep over cow corner for a maximum.

Devdutt Padikkal went bonkers against Deepak Chahar as he smashed him for 17 runs, including two fours and a six in the sixth over. After Phil Salt's wicket, Kohli and Padikkal steadied RCB's ship as they put up a good score inside powerplay, laying a foundation for solid total on the board.

Virat Kohli took on Trent Boutl as he smashed him for two consecutive fours in the third over of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's innings.

WICKET! Trent Boult gets his revenge on RCB opener Phil Salt after conceding a four as he bowled him out for 4 in the first over of the visitors' innings. Boult bowls a full delivery, aiming at the stumps, and gets the new ball to swing in. Salt moves towards the leg side and tries to flick it across the line but misses. The ball goes past the inside edge of his bat and hits the middle and leg stumps.

Hardik Pandya (MI): We are gonna bowl first. This looks like a good track, dew might come in later. When the wicket is cool, it stays good. When dew comes, it gets better. It always plays well for both teams. It's time for us to get some rhythm, get some good cricket behind us, take the smarter options and do the right things. We are playing good cricket, but it's just that at certain moments, we are missing out on certain things. If we can look after those, we'll be able to get the rhythm. Mumbai has been always supporting us. We have made sure that this is our fortress and we kinda defend it. Playing at home makes it different. The crowd is behind you and you are aware of the conditions. Jassie (Bumrah) is back and so is Ro (Rohit). Bot of our experienced campaigners are back in the side, that gives us an added fuel.

Rajat Patidar (RCB): Of course(would have chased), but it'll not make too much of a difference. Surface looks hard and good to bat on. It's a typical Mumbai wicket, it will be good for batsmen. For us, it's not important to look at the points table. It's important to play good cricket, looking forward to it. It's very difficult to bowl at this venue, but I am pretty confident about the bowling unit that we have. We have played a lot of cricket, every venue in India. It's pretty clear at what venue what we have to do. We are playing with the same team.

Mumbai Indians decided to bowl first after winning the toss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Jasprit Bumrah is returning to action after being on the sidelines since January due to back injury and Rohit Sharma too returned to MI's playing XI after recovering from knee injury, which ruled him out of previous match against Lucknow Super Giants.

Natalie Germanos and Simon Katich: In the first game that was played at this stadium in this season, KKR were bowled out for 116 but that was on pitch number 6, this is pitch number 8 today. Dimensions - 66m and 61m square boundaries, 74 straight. It's a little windy today - gusting up to 36 kph, you just wonder whether that's gonna have an effect on the dew. We know that when the dew comes here at the Wankhede, the ball flies everywhere and teams generally like to chase. I think that might have an influence tonight. When we look down at this surface, it's rock hard, it's got an even coverage of grass but it's a little bit bare. Don't expect a lot of spin on this surface and it should be a high-scoring surface.
