Khelo India Winter Games 2021 is the second edition of the youth games. The event is traditionally being held in Ladakh and Gulmarg. Aanchal Thakur is a prime and renowned alpine skier, having won an international medal before, thus becoming the first Indian from the sport.

The 2021 edition of the Khelo India Winter Games is off to a brilliant start. Meanwhile, the event became even historic as the nation has undoubtedly unlocked an enormous potential in the sport of skiing.

Renowned female alpine skier Aanchal Thakur has clinched her second gold medal in skiing, held in Slalom, Gulmarg. Earlier, she had clinched another gold in a different sector of skiing.

Recently, Aanchal had become the first Indian woman to take part in the World Ski Championships 2021, held in Cortina, Italy, where she finished at the 65th spot. The 24-year-old skier from Manali was the only Indian during the 2012 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck.

She also participated at the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics, competing in the Slalom and Giant Slalom event. At the 2018 Alpine Ejder 3200 Cup in Turkey, she became the first Indian to win a medal in the sport, as she clinched a bronze.
