ISL 2016: Thierry Henry to visit India

Henry will be in Kolkata on October 25 to watch the ISL game between Kolkata and Mumbai. He remains the record goal-scorer for Arsenal with 174 goals in 254 appearances. He also represented Barcelona, Juventus and Monaco.

The Arsenal and France legendary striker is being brought to India by Puma. He will not only participate in promotional activities but also get his own taste of Indian football.

The former FC Barcelona star will leave for Mumbai the day after the match to interact with his fans and provide a few tips to budding football players.

We are extremely excited to get Thierry Henry to India for the first time and give his fans the opportunity to see him from close quarters. We know that his popularity in the football fraternity is unmatched," Abhishek Ganguly, managing director of Puma, India, told Times of India.

The ISL, which kicked off in 2013, has received a superb response in India, courtesy of European football leagues. It has successfully managed to spread the trend for the sport in a cricket-crazy country.

Earlier, former Italian footballer and current manager of ISL's Delhi Dynamos, Gianluca Zambrotta, said that he will try his best to bring Manchester United star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to India.

"Given his fan following in India, I think Zlatan would want to come and end his career here. On my end, I will definitely try and convince him to play for Delhi Dynamos," the former FC Barcelona defender said.
