Is Virender Sehwag quitting Kings XI Punjab? Preity Zinta responds

Synopsis

This time, things are looking good for Kings XI Punjab as it is on the third spot and it seems that the team will qualify for the play-offs. The team mentor and former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag definitely needs to be praised for the team’s performance. But as per the reports published in Mumbai Mirror, all is not well between Sehwag and the team co-owner Preity Zinta.

As the IPL mania goes on, reports have emerged that the mentor of Kings XI Punjab faced the ire of the co-owner of the franchise Preity Zinta as the team lost out on 3 out of 4 matches, the most recent being the loss against Rajasthan Royals. Apparently, the 'tactics' used by him was questioned, and his decision to send Ravichandran Ashwin to bat at number 3 has also not gone down well with Zinta who confronted him after the match.

Sehwag, who was roped in during the last season had a meaty role to play as the mentor of the franchise and was instrumental in leading up the team's position to no.3 but, this reported confrontation might lead him to end his association with the team.

However, in the latest development, Zinta has slammed the daily for blowing things out of proportion as all they had was a conversation and not a confrontation.

Her tweet read, “Mumbai Mirror gets it wrong again because we didn’t do Media net & pay them to write articles cuz that’s the only time they get it right. A conversation between Viru & me has been blown out of proportion & suddenly I’m a Villian! Wow! #fakenews”

If this was a TRP-gainer gimmick, then it surely has fell flat as the daily's reputation has come under the scanner as the people in question have clarified the issue.
