David Warner? Most destructive batsman? Not a problem, says 'Chinaman' Kuldeep Yadav

22-year-old Kuldeep Yadav is not just a novelty for the Indian team anymore. Until recently, his claim to fame was being India’s first ‘Chinaman’ bowler, someone who does a leg-spin with the left arm. However, his bowling against some of the best batsmen across the world has proved that he can be a dangerous spinner.

And when a legendary captain like Michael Clarke praises you, you know that you’ve made a name for yourself. “I am a huge fan of Kuldeep Yadav. I was impressed seeing him play a Test and was impressed again in Chennai. He is a wicket-taking bowler. His ability to spin the ball both ways makes him hard to read and for someone this young he has very good control, like Hoggy (Brad Hogg),” said Clarke, now a television commentator, on Tuesday.

Kuldeep’s confidence too has seen a boost, especially against a destructive batsman like David Warner. Kuldeep Yadav has bowled to Warner on six occasions and got him out four times. 

"If you are consistently getting the better of a player, you do think that you want to get him out as soon as you can. You're not under pressure while bowling to that player. It's the same for Warner; I think that he puts pressure on himself while facing me, thinking that I might get his wicket," Kuldeep told reporters ahead of India's second ODI of the ongoing five-match series at the Eden Gardens.

Kuldeep was the one who took Warner’s wicket in the first ODI in Chennai when the batsman went for a cut but only got an outside edge which landed in keeper MS Dhoni’s gloves.

Kuldeep plans on getting the better of the batsman again at the Eden Gardens.  "There's no pressure on me and I enjoy bowling to him (Warner). I have my plans in place and will try to get him out again," Kuldeep said.

What works wonders for Kuldeep is his bowling action. He is a wrist spinner and can be utilized well along with Yazuvendra Chahal. Australia has always had problems with the turning ball in the sub-continent.

However, there has been a tinge of green at the wicket at the Eden Gardens and the ball is not expected to turn much, which provides a new challenge for Kuldeep. And so this will be a task for Kuldeep to keep the Australian batsmen in check, who will look to avenge their loss in Chennai.
