India to get a new coach, with or without Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble has officially re-applied for the post of India’s head coach. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has guaranteed that Indian will get a new coach, and that may or may not be Anil Kumble, before the end of the ongoing Champions Trophy.
The BCCI had earlier given Kumble a direct entry into the final selection, and he did not have to re-apply for the post. But he did nevertheless.
The BCCI called for fresh applications after receiving complaints from current players, including captain Virat Kohli that Kumble’s style of coaching was overbearing.
Apart from Kumble, Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus, Lalchand Rajput, and Dodda Ganesh have applied for the post of India's head coach. They will be interviewed by Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which consists of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.
Former Australian fast bowler Craig McDermott had also sent an application, but it missed the May 31 deadline.
The BCCI wants to finalise a candidate before the end of the Champions Trophy since India will tour West Indies after the tournament. BCCI might give the new coach a two-year contract that will extend till World Cup 2019.
Kumble has a brilliant record as head coach for India. In 17 tests, India has won 12, drawn four and lost one to Australia. India was also No 1 in tests for six months between 2016 and 2017. Kumble’s contract will end with the conclusion of the Champions Trophy.
