EPL 2020-21: Watch Ole Gunnar Solskjaer make big Manchester United admission following Everton draw

Synopsis

This was Manchester United’s sixth draw of the 2020-21 English Premier League, as with 13 draws and four losses, it stays second on the table. United is the record 20-time champion of the competition, while it has not won the title since 2012-13, post Sir Alex Ferguson.

English Premier League giant and record champion, Manchester United was held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Everton at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday. United continues to stay second on the table, a couple of points behind the leader, Manchester City, having played two games more.

It all began with Édinson Cavani’s opener for United in the 24th minute, followed by Bruno Fernandes, who doubled it at the stroke of half-time. Everton struck back with two in a row, from Abdoulaye Doucouré (49th) and James Rodriguez (52). Although Scott McTominay restored the lead for United at 70th, Dominic Calvert-Lewin levelled it again in the 95th minute to settle for a draw.

Following the draw, United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that United is nowhere near being the title contenders. “We are not talking about winning titles. We have come a long way, this team,” he told Sky Sports.

“We should not even be considered as title chasers. That is more talk that you (the media) are saying. We need to be better as a team and see where we end up. Going forward, we need to stop conceding easy goals,” he added.

Speaking on the game, Solskjaer was frustrated in the manner United defended, followed by David de Gea’s howler that cost the side the opening goal from Everton. “We played some good football in the second half but conceded three goals from three shots on target. I wouldn’t blame anyone on the goals, but we know we could have done better as a team on all of them,’ he concluded.
