Delhi Daredevils outplay Kolkata Knight Riders and hand them a 55-run defeat.

Synopsis

They needed this victory, and it was Shreyas Iyer, the new skipper, who led Delhi from the front. After Prithvi Shaw managed 62 runs, Iyer smocked an unbeaten 40-ball 93 to take Delhi to 219 for 4.

Delhi Daredevils outplay Kolkata Knight Riders and hand them a 55-run defeat.  A loss here and it would have been a dead end in the journey of IPL 2018, but DD are still alive. They scored 219 batting first and that I guess set the game for them. First Prithvi Shaw, then Shreyas Iyer ensured that DD put it across the KKR side. 29 runs of the last over by Iyer off Mavi was the telling blow. It just put it beyond KKR it seemed.

Looking to beat DD in their home ground, KKR started with three early jolts as opener Chris Lynn was removed by Maxwell and the Robin Uthappa was sent back by Boult. Soon, the pacer removed Narine on the last ball of the third over. KKR were 33/3 after 3 overs.

Delhi posted a massive total of 219/4 after batting first, as newly appointed captain Shreyas Iyer scored 93 runs from 40 deliveries. Prithvi Shaw, who opened the innings, scored 62 from 44 while Colin Munro scored 33 from 18 deliveries. Glenn Maxwell scored 27 from 18 though Rishabh Pant scored a duck. Chawla, Russell and Mavi took a wicket each for Kolkata.
