Fixing rampant in tennis, report indicates

There were 48 incidents of suspicious betting on tennis matches in the first quarter of 2016, according to a release by the Tennis Integrity Unit.

The TIU receives constant alerts from the betting industry regarding unusual patterns that may be indicative of corrupt activity in matches.

The figures indicate that most of the unusual activity exists at the lower levels of tennis, such as the Challenger and Futures circuits.

Of the 48 suspicious matches, one was at the Australian Open, one on the WTA Tour, and the rest at the lower levels. Thirty six of these games were men’s matches.

For the same the period last year, the TIU had reported 31 cases of unusual activity.
