Arjun Tendulkar has named Yuvraj Singh as his batting idol, saying he admired the former India star’s style at the crease. The Lucknow Super Giants all‑rounder made the revelation during a podcast appearance with Shubhankar Mishra, where he discussed his career journey and future goals.
Arjun, who was traded from Mumbai Indians to Lucknow in exchange for Shardul Thakur, could feature in the XI when Lucknow face Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2026 opener. Despite being the son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun admitted he has yet to enjoy a breakthrough season in the league.
Asked about his inspirations beyond his father, Arjun replied, “Yuvraj Singh.” When pressed on whether he admired Yuvraj’s bowling too, he responded, “He was a spinner, I am a pacer.”
Arjun explained that his decision to leave Mumbai cricket was driven by the need for consistent playing time. He acknowledged the intense competition in Mumbai’s ranks and said moving to Goa offered him better chances to feature regularly. “Every player wants more opportunities. No one wants to sit on the bench,” he said.
He added that consistent game time is crucial for development, and his move was aimed at taking on greater responsibility while sharpening his all‑round skills.
In the IPL, Arjun had limited opportunities with Mumbai Indians but gained valuable experience working alongside senior cricketers and coaches. Mishra asked if he felt he deserved more chances after bowling well in his brief appearances. Arjun replied, “All a player needs to do is work hard and seize the opportunity when it comes.”
