Ajay Jadeja has criticised Yashasvi Jaiswal with a blunt “If you can’t take it, don’t dish it out” remark. His comments have sparked fresh debate over Jaiswal’s approach and conduct in cricket.

Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has come down hard on opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for his on-field spat with pacer Asitha Fernando. The incident happened on the first day of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Speaking on Sony Sports, Jadeja didn't mince his words. "If you can't laugh when you're being made fun of, then you have no right to make fun of others. If you're on the field and can't take it when someone says something back, it's better you don't say anything at all," he stated clearly.

Jadeja warned that this was a risky approach for the young player. "This is a very dangerous path. Getting into a physical fight is just wrong. In the last match, Jaiswal said a few things to Niroshan Dickwella while fielding. We thought it was all good fun as long as the language didn't cross a line," Jadeja added.

The whole drama unfolded in the 17th over of the match. Jaiswal had just smashed Fernando for three back-to-back fours but got out on the final ball of the over. Fernando gave him an aggressive send-off, which clearly annoyed Jaiswal. Instead of walking back to the dressing room, he stopped, turned towards the bowler, and they got into a heated argument. The two players came face-to-face and even pushed each other before Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva and other players stepped in to cool things down.

'He shouldn't have gone that close': Sitanshu Kotak

Even India's batting coach, Sitanshu Kotak, didn't fully defend Jaiswal's actions when he spoke to the media after the day's play. Kotak felt that Jaiswal shouldn't have gotten so close to Fernando during the confrontation.

"The bowler probably said something in the heat of the moment. Of course, Jaiswal didn't need to go that close to him to react. But these things are natural and can happen in the heat of the game," Kotak added.
