From Tennis virtuoso to super coach – Becker’s persona shines on!

Synopsis

Even after winning six major titles under the former Olympic Gold medallist, Djoker parted ways. Djokovic won 6 major titles under Becker.

On December 6, 2016, World no.2 Novak Djokovic parted ways with his larger-than-life coach Boris Becker. A couple of weeks later, Djoker could not find a coach for himself and to that the 49-year-old German had said, “How would you replace me?”

Yes, that is how the former World no.1 Tennis superstar is. Indeed, Becker is irreplaceable. From being the no.1 Tennis superstar in his generation to being one of the best coaches in the world, Becker has had one hell of a journey.

What else can one expect from a man who had won the most-prestigious slams of all – Wimbledon, at the age of 17! Djokovic probably learnt a great deal from the German, while he was being guided by the brooding Becker.

Djoker could have learnt more from the man who’s booming serves and incredible volleys once, threatened his opponents. But unfortunately, the Serbian decided to discontinue his association with the 6 time major slams winner. Even after winning six major titles under the former Olympic Gold medallist, Djoker had to do this.

If one stresses on his/her memories, then the speech of Roger Federer after winning the 2009 Wimbledon final would flash on their minds. The Swiss legend had credited the rivalry of Boris Becker and Steven Edberg, which inspired the Fed Express to choose tennis over football.

We all hope that Becker continues to contribute to the game with such overpowering ease.
