However, after two hours the same doctor asked her to take an x-ray from a private laboratory and on finding the result referred her to Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. Relatives said the doctor did explain why he is referring the patient to Medical College Hospital.

"Few hours after the operation they said something is missing from the operation and that an x-ray is to be taken. They also arranged an ambulance. A metal piece was detected in her intestine. She was suffering from severe pain but the doctors were not even ready to give an injection," said Sajeer, son of Laila Beevi.

The instrument was removed after conducting a surgery at the Medical College Hospital.

However, Nedumangad District hospital authorities said that they have not committed any mistake and referred the patient to Medical College to avoid any complications that are likely to arise from giving second anesthesia at a short interval.

Meanwhile, Public Health director informed that action will be taken on the basis of the report of the district medical officer, who will probe into the issue.

Health Minister K K Shailaja has ordered a probe into the incident.
