  • The classroom was built at a cost of Rs 3 lakh.
  • After the principal took initiative to build the smart class room, the PTA and the City Corporation have come with offers to build more high-tech class rooms.

On Wednesday, the Cotton Hill School in Thiruvananathapuram opened its first 'hi-tech' classroom, a rare feat for a government school. The smart class room was a gift to the students by the principal S Sujana.

With LCD projector boards, computer accessories, special audio-visual equipment and stylish furniture, the students are no doubt fortunate when compared to many of their peers in most of the government schools and many private institutions.

The children are more than happy that they got Sujana as principal who spent Rs.3 lakh from her pocket to build a smart classroom.

"I wanted the students to learn their syllabus in the most effective way. So we decided to introduce modern technology,” said Sujana.

Inspired by the principal's gesture, the parents and teachers Association is building a second smart classroom for the school. While inaugurating the classroom, Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Prashant also offered additional funds for building more smart classes.
