Once again, Karnataka crowds mutely watch brutal attack

Synopsis

Using a girl as an excuse, two gangs got into a bloody clash just two days ago in Haasan in Karnataka. Much criticism was levelled at the milling crowd, which had time to watch and film the blood-soaked encounter, but did not intervene.

In further proof that this was a common attitude among the public as a whole, a similar incident in Bengaluru generated much the same reaction from the gawking crowds.

A gang of five attempted to murder a young boy, named Darshan, today near Laggere bridge in Rajagopal Nagar police station limits. Darshan's had come to the area as a substitute for his father, who works as a security guard. The gang dragged him onto the street and openly attempted to murder him.

However, no one came to the rescue of the victim. The crowds on the street instead stopped their vehicles and casually watched the scene. Several even shot videos of the brutal attack on their mobile phones.

Finally, an old lady came to Darshan's rescue and dispersed the attackers. The police allegedly refused to file a case against the five miscreants.
