Fifty one-year-old minister Mallikarjun said he has been doing this since he was 11 years old. This was his 40th walk!

 

When reporters sought to know whether he believed in superstition, Mallikarjun shot back stating that every year he along with his family members offers prayers at the car festival. "My forefathers have set the tradition of walking on the fire and I'm carrying on my family's legacy. This is our way of offering prayers and there's no superstition attached to it," he said.
