New Year gift: KSRTC pumps in ₹25 crore to get 100 % bio-diesel buses

Synopsis

Buses can be used as diesel as well as bio-diesel bus Cost of each bus amounts to ₹91.10 lakh Buses also have three foldable LCD monitors with DVD player

 

There is a scarcity in production of bio-diesel in India, but in the future it is the solution for controlling pollution. Hence these buses are equipped with bio-diesel Kit, there is no need to modify in the engine.

 

"We can use it as a diesel bus as well as bio-diesel bus. There will not be any technical hurdles to operate it," said Rajender Kumar Kataria, MD KSRTC.

 

Cost of each bus amounts to ₹91.10 lakh. The KSRTC will be able to save at least rupees one crore on diesel with these 25 buses. Currently, the KSRTC will operate between Bangalore and Kundhapura, Bangalore and Bidar, Bangalore and Tirupati and Bangalore and Chennai.

 

Provision of Fleet Management System (FMS) by which connects vehicle to a Control Room via wireless links and internet. FMS offers transport management, vehicle management and support for the driver.

 

Three foldable LCD monitors with DVD player are set up for entertainment. Attractive branding and body graphics are some of the features of these buses.

 

Lauding the efforts of KSRTC, Pollution Control Board Chairperson, K Lakshman said, this is a very good move. "By and large vehicle emission was considered as a major contributor for air pollution. With introduction of bio-diesel buses, the KSRTC has shown commitment towards environment," said Lakshman.
