Murder in Shivamogga mutt: Man sedates, drowns 3-yr-old boy to avenge ‘humiliation’

Victim is the grandson of mutt’s head seer’s sister Rudresh also a relative of seer allegedly wanted to take ‘revenge’ from seer’s sister

The boy identified as Srujan is the grandson of Renukamma, sister of Siddalinga swamiji, the head seer of the Moolegadde mutt.

The boy was allegedly sedated before he was drowned in the pond, belonged to the math, it is said.

It is learnt that Rudresh, a relative of seer Siddalinga swammiji, who used to run errands in the mutt allegedly wanted to take revenge on Renukamma.

Apparently, Renukamma had caught Rudresh stealing from the mutt recently. This disturbed him as Renukamma was the sister of Siddalinga swami. Allegedly with an intention to teach Renukamma a lesson, Rudresh served the dinner allegedly laced with sedatives to Srujan, his mother Chaitra and his aunts. They had come down from Pune to take part in the coronation ceremony.

While Srujan's mother Chaitra and his aunts were found unconscious, Srujan’s body was found in the pond. Chaitra is said to be pregnant and has not yet gained conscious.

Mutt authorities have lodged a complaint with the police.
