Missing Keralite contacts family from Afghanistan to share good news

Synopsis

Fathima sent a text message to her in-law's phone apparently from Afghanistan   Gave birth to a baby girl, Fathima texted.  She was pregnant when she went missing with her husband Isa and others

  Former dental college student Fathima, who left the country allegedly to join the terrorist outfit Islamic State (ISIS) along with her husband and relatives, has given birth to a baby girl. She shared the good news through a text message apparently sent from Afghanistan.

 

Fathima’s in-laws in Palakad received the text message from a phone number with +93 code, the telephone code of Afghanistan. The message was sent to the mobile phone of her mother-in-law in Palakkad. 

 

Nimisha, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram, converted to Islam and adopted the name Fathima while she was studying in a dental college at Kasargod. She went missing with her husband Isa (Bexon), his brother Yahia (Bestin) and his wife Merlin (Mariam) who converted from Christianity. Fathima was pregnant when she went missing.

Isa's parents handed over the details of the message to the police. A total of 22 persons went missing from Kerala and among them, 18 are from Kasaragod. The National Investigation Agency and a special investigation team of Kerala Police are probing suspected terror links in the case. Arshid Qureshi and Rizwan Khan, two close aides of Zakir Nair, a controversial Islamic televangelist had been arrested in connection with the radicalization of youths from Kerala
