In the past few months, the excise department and the police have intensified vigil against drug trafficking and the illegal marijuana trade in Kerala. So these youths, who were living in a rented house in Kochi, thought of attaining self-sustainability in marijuana. And they started cultivating the plant in the premises of the house!

But for the police, who raided the house at the heart of the city on Sunday, the exotic plant in the backyard was clue enough to what is taking place inside the house. They took eight youths, all of them employees of a prominent mall in the city, into custody with a stock of ganja and hookah they used to take a puff. Interestingly, they also found innovative hookahs made out of discarded plastic bottles.
