Malayalee school boy beaten to death in New Delhi

Synopsis

In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old Malayalee boy was brutally beaten to death allegedly by pan masala vendors at Mayur Vihar in New Delhi on Wednesday evening. 

 

    Rajat, son of Unnikrishnan hailing from Palakkad, was returning from tuition class along with his four friends when a tiff broke out between the children and some pan vendors. The vendors thrashed the boys alleging shoplifting and dragged them to a nearby park where they continued the assault. Rajat lost consciousness and fell on the ground while his friends ran for safety.

 

Though the assailants rushed the injured boy to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital before escaping the scene, his life could not be saved. Rajath succumbed to injuries on Wednesday evening. 

 

Rajat, a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase -III, is a class IX student of Salwan Public School. 
  
The murder sent shockwaves among the Malayalee residents in New Delhi who thronged the Ashok Nagar police station demanding the arrest of the culprits. They also accused that the police intervened only after media intervention.  Malayalee residents associations of New Delhi will hold a meeting on Thursday afternoon to decide on the future course of action.
