Loco engine overturns in Kannur; pilot jumps to safety

The engine of Kannur- Alappuzha Executive Express derailed and overturned into a canal on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at 4.30 am near  Talappu-Irattakannan bridge, about a kilometre from Kannur railway station, during shunting. The loco pilot was injured in the incident. 

 The loco pilot said the track was not visible because of heavy rain and lost control. The engine derailed when he tried to change the track. Though the loco pilot jumped out of the train, he sustained minor injuries. Rail traffic in the route was interrupted for an hour following the incident.
