Youth marries transgender, parents gift couple a thrashing

Shivu of Yalaburga taluk fell in love with Radhika, a transgender, and recently tied the knot with her in the presence of the bride's friends in Koppal where he worked in the railway canteen.

When Shivu’s family came to know of the marriage, they were aghast and had the couple thrashed to dissuade them from staying with each other.

The couple was later taken to the nearby police station, where both declared that they did not want to be separated.

The parents later forcefully separated the couple and locked up Shivu in their house.

While no resolution has been yet forthcoming, Radhika’s friends have expressed their concern for her.
